The Perfect Piñata/La Piñata Perfecta, an English/Spanish story, written by Kelli Kyle Dominguez, illustrated by Diane Paterson, and translated into Spanish by Teresa Mlawer, was delightful. I haven’t read Spanish in quite a while and I enjoyed reading the book through in Spanish. It read very well.
This is about a birthday treat.
The story was sweet and believable. A girl gets to pick her birthday piñata and chooses a beautiful butterfly. In the days leading up to the special day, though, she grows more and more attached to the piñata. When she’s given the stick to hit the butterfly, she runs into the house in tears. Her parents contrive a happy ending and the butterfly piñata moves into Marisa’s bedroom to live ever after.
